THE ANCIENT ANIMAL SPECIES LIVING IN INDONESIA


It turned out that in the State of Indonesia, there are animal or species, including ancient, as information for you to know the types and names of these animals with the hope to join the campaign against the presence of the animal protection.

1. KOMODO  (Varanus komodoensis)




Komodo, or commonly called the Komodo Dragon (Varanus komodoensis), is the largest lizard in the world to reach a body length of 2-3 meters and weigh up to 70-140 pounds. This large size is closely related to island gigantism, the tendency for body meraksasanya certain animals that live in small island linked to the absence of mammalian carnivores on the island where dragons live, and the rate of metabolism of small dragons. Because of his body, these lizards occupy the position of a top predator that dominate the ecosystems in which they live.

Komodo is the only living ancient dinosaur (endemic) in Indonesia alone, precisely on the island of Komodo National Park. Even so dragons can also be found in two other islands around the island of Komodo, Rinca and Padar.

Secret of Komodo lizards that can survive for 40 million years is because it has a natural defense system life found in nails and saliva. Their saliva is deadly because it contains 66 types of deadly bacteria. Another secret why dragons can survive this long is because of the way the dragons reproduce very privileges. Komodo can lay eggs without a male (parthenogenesis)

2. ANCIENT SEA KING FISH  ( Coelacanth )






















King of the ocean or the coelacanth fish is an ancient fish that live much in 360 million years ago. King of ocean fish known as the coelacanth now only two species, namely Latimeria menadoensis (Indonesian coelacanth) and Latimeria chalumnae (Comoro coelacanth). While a variety of other types, approximately 120 species, has been declared extinct and only found fossils alone

In 1998, sea king fish caught in fishing nets in the waters of the island of Manado Tua, North Sulawesi. This type of fish is already commonly known by local fishermen terdiskripsikan but not until an American researcher who lives in Manado, Mark Erdmann and some of his friends including LIPI scientists publish and recent sea king fish is referred to as a new species, Latimeria menadoensis (Sulawesi Coelacanth).
Between the sea king fish species chalumnae Latimeria (Coelacanth Comoros) and menadoensis Latimeria (Coelacanth Sulawesi) have similar characteristics. This ancient fish tail shaped like a fan with big eyes and scales that look is not perfect (like a rock). Reach 2 meters in length and weigh up to 80-100 pounds. There is a difference in skin color is brown menadoensis Latimeria Latimeria chalumnae while blue steel.

3. AROWANA ASIAN FISH (Scleropages formosus)

Asian arowana (Scleropages formosus), or Red Siluk is a species of freshwater fish from Southeast Asia. This fish has a long body; anal fin is located far behind the body. Asian Arowana generally have a silvery color. Asian Arowana is also called "Dragon Fish" because it is often linked with the dragon of Chinese Mythology 

Asian Arowana is a native species in the rivers of Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia. There are four varieties of colors that are at the location: 

Green, found in Indonesia, Vietnam, Burma, Thailand, and Malaysia 
Gold with red tail, discovered in Indonesia 
Gold, discovered in Malaysia 
Red, found in Indonesia 
Asian Arowana are listed in the endangered species list with the status of "endangered" by the IUCN in 2004 . The number of these species are declining due to frequent trading due to the high value as aquarium fish, especially the Asian community. Followers of Feng Shui can pay a heavy price for this fish

Arowana are freshwater bony fish of the family Osteoglossidae, also known as bonytongues.  Arowana actually including an ancient fish that has yet extinct.  Many of the names attached to it, in between siluk fish, fish heaven, fish kalikasi, and fish hump. 

Physical characteristics

Morphological (physical characteristics), the body and head rather dense arowana. His body was flat and his back flat, almost straight from the mouth to the dorsal fin. Lateral line or the lateral line is located at the left and right side of the body arowana between 20-24 cm in length. Mouth shape pointing upwards and has a pair of antennae on the lips bawah.Ukuran wide mouth and jaw quite sturdy. Her teeth are numbered 15-17. Anus fin is longer than the dorsal fin (dorsal), almost reaching the pelvic fins (ventral) .Panjang adult arowana is very varied, between 30-80 cm. Flattened body shape and large scaly beautiful meandering while swimming in the aquarium. Plus the growth of the two antennae at the tip of the lower lip to make this fish-like dragon or dragon. Therefore it is not surprising that some people menyabutnya with kimliong or golden dragon fish. Like the dragon, arwanajuga regarded as a symbol of success, courage, and triumph.
